Two Kinds
Amy tan was
a shy Chinese American girl who was born in the U.S.A. She wants to become an
American girl. Amy Tam and her mother were living in California on Sacramento
Street in Chinatown in San Francisco. Her mother moved to San Francisco in 1949
after losing everything in China. Her mother was an ambitious Chinese woman,
who wants her daughter to be perfect in everything. But Amy wants to be an
independent American girl. This story is all about the conflicts between her and
her mother. In the starting, she was mad with her mother because her mother
took her in training school for hair cut. She did not like her hairstyle at
all. When her mother sent her to Mr. Chong for piano lessons, she did not like
it. She was not interested in learning piano. Later as her mother made her to participate
in the talent show and Amy disappointed her in front all of her friends. After
the talent show she thought that her mother would stop her sending to piano
classes. But when her mother tried to send her to the piano classes, she had a
huge fight with her mother that changed everything. This was the first time
when Amy had ever told anything to her. After that her mother never said
anything to her. She let Amy do whatever she wanted. On Amy’s 30th
birthday, her mother offered her piano and Amy accepted it as a sign of
forgiveness. After her mother death, we Amy played it and she felt that she
enjoyed it.
